TOWER CLOCKS
We have enjoyed the opportunity to restore tower clocks for many different schools and municipalities. These public timekeepers were built of durable heavy cast iron and brass and intended to perform permanent service, if well-maintained. Unfortunately, many have fallen victim to neglect, but their excellent design and fine craftsmanship make them eminently worthy of restoration. With our experience and expertise, they can be returned to service in the communities that have long seen them as familiar friends. They can once again serve as examples of American ingenuity and craftsmanship from an earlier era when communities such as cities and colleges chose them to adorn their centers and announce the time of day with great accuracy.
Our experience shows that once restored, these clocks can enhance the communities around them. Our preference is to restore the original integrety by converting back to pendulum design, we replace any missing parts and modify the winding systems so they are self winding but run mechanicaly. This allows the clock to continue to run through power outtages making them much more reliable. Once restored these clocks are beautiful examples of craftsmanship achieved in times past. In some cases we have relocated the clocks from their original locations up in the tower, (never to be seen) to lower floors where they become active displays.
